THE number of people signing on in Tralee has seen a large increase in the month of June with 184 more people joining the Live Register to bring the total figure to 5,609.
This brought a halt to the two month of April-May that had seen a consistent decrease in the numbers of jobless in town.
There were smaller increases as well in certain areas of the county, most notably in Killorglin (increased to 977) and Listowel (increased to 2,510), but this is in contrast to the decreasing number of jobless in other areas.
The tourist season has kicked in and the tourist hotspots in the county have scene expected monthly decreases in Killarney, Kenmare, Dingle and Caherciveen.
Killarney now stands at 1,821, Dingle is at 649, Kenmare is at 388 and Caherciveen is 441.
