THE Kerry branch of the Samaritans are looking to recruit new volunteers and are holding an information night in Tralee on Friday, October 5 at 7.30pm.
Back in July the local branch revealed that to that date in 2018, they have received 14,700 contacts.
These contacts include telephone calls, SMS message and face to face callers to the branch at Moyderwell Tralee. This was a marginal increase on the number of contacts for the same period in 2017.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and can afford to spare three hours per week then call to the information night at their centre in 43-44 Moyderwell, Tralee. To find out more about becoming a Samaritans volunteer, contact Josephine on 087-9158779.
Established in Ireland in 1962, there are now 20 Samaritans branches across Ireland with more than 2,000 active volunteers. Samaritans volunteers in Ireland answered over 625,000 calls for help in 2017.
