Senior Men
Intermediate Championship
Mitchels 1-9
Stacks 2-10
A loss today but to be fair what a turnaround from last week’s dismal performance against Desmond’s
Wind assisted in the first half we put some good ball in to our forwards to give the Stacks defense plenty to ponder as we kicked some great scores, Alan Donoghue and Mikey Kelliher doing the damage winning plenty frees and converting some great scores.
Great to see Pat Kearney back out the field again carrying ball after ball and setting up some decent attacks. Our backs tackled hard turning over some great ball and our midfield competed very well and possibly just about shading the exchanges here. Stephen bowler going off was a huge loss in the second half which hindered winning primary possession from kick outs but we stuck to our task regardless and worked hard out the field.
We had a healthy lead at half time but the second half had a different story to tell and not being able to produce even one score put pay to any hopes of winning today. Stacks won a penalty and converted some easy scores to pull away and win the day.
Without doubt one that we could have won had we held our nerve in the second half but it’s a performance we can be proud of none the less.
Next up Ballydonoghue at home next week

Under 14 Girls
County League Division 6 Final
John Mitchels 0-13
Legion 0-9
In what proved to be a thrilling and tightly contested game, John Mitchels u14 girls took victory in the County League Division 6 Final in Milltown on Sunday, adding the County League title to the Non County Player County League title that they won earlier in the season.
It was a tight affair throughout and both sides gave their all, but Mitchels scoring power in the final quarter told the difference as they outscored the Killarney team by 0-7 to 0-1 in the second half.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half, Mitchels looked to stay in touch and started brightly with an early free from Ella McCannon. However, Legion came back and with the wind behind them, scored two scores before Ciara Harris leveled matters.
The teams swapped scores, Caoimhe Nammock scoring Mitchels, and it was tit for tat throughout the half, with further points from Ciara Harris and Kerri Falvey levelling matters. Legion scored three in a row before Amy Noonan brought the gap to 0-8 to 0-6 at the break.
Just before the half-time break, Mitchels suffered a heavy blow when joint captain Sadhbh Corkery had to go off with an ankle injury.
Mitchels regrouped in the second half and with Nadya Rivas McHugh filling in well at full-back, Mitchels started to eat into the Legion lead. Ciara Harris opened the scoring in the second half and after Legion scored their only point of the half after three minutes, Mitchels took over.
Points from Kerri Falvey and Caoimhe Nammock levelled it and in a tightly contested game, Mitchels defence dominated the Legion attack. With Ciara Harris and Kerri Falvey dominating matters, and Kelly O’Sullivan, Hannah Roche and Claudia Duffin pushing forward, Mitchels had the upper hand.
And so it proved, as Legion began to concede frees to prevent Mitchels breaking through on goal Frees from Kerri Falvey and Ella McCannon pushed Mitchels ahead and they were not to be stopped.
A terrific performance from the players who have made huge strides this year and have really gelled as a unit.
