Féile 2016
What a weekend it was in the South West region. The John West Féile saw thousands of U14 footballers and their mentors and in a lot of cases their families descend on the different centres.
Our club was no different and was a hive of activity all week with everyone getting ready for the visitors.
Our visiting clubs Ballysaggart girls from Waterford and St Michaels boys from Sligo finally arrived on Friday afternoon to a great welcome from club officials, host families and even had former GAA President Seán Kelly on hand to say hello.
After the cup of tea and refreshments it was off to see the accommodation and then back to the business of football.
Our own club was successful in all of their group games but both the girls and boys teams bowed out at the next stage having represented their club to the very best of their abilities. Well done to them and their mentors.
We would like to sincerely like to thank all of those who made the weekend possible.
There are too many to name individually so the organising committee who put months of work into it, the volunteers who showed out in great numbers to help with parking, umpiring, catering and the provision of all of the wonderful food over the weekend.
Thanks to all of you. Lastly a massive thanks to all of the families who hosted our visitors. They will remember their time at Kerins O’Rahillys for years to come.
The calls have been flooding in with praise for our hospitality since both Ballysaggart and St Michaels returned home. Volunteering, friendship and respect is alive and well in Strand Rd.
