Kerins CrestGarvey’s Supervalu Senior Championship Quarter Final Kerins O’Rahillys 0-14 Dr. Crokes 1-16

Played in ideal conditions last Saturday afternoon Dr. Crokes qualified for the semi-final in this Garvey’s Co. Championship.

Though we had the first point from Jack Savage Crokes equalised straight after before Kieran O’Mahony equalised in the 6th minute leaving the scores at 2 points each.

Then a serious injury to Giles O’Grady our wing back and play was stopped for up to 40 minutes and we wish Giles a speedy recovery from this injury.

After this injury Dr. Crokes took control and led by 1 goal and 6 points before we replied with points by David Moran, Barry John Keane, Jack Savage and Tommy Walsh to leave the half time score at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-6 to Dr. Crokes 1-10.

We dominated the start of the second half and points by David Moran, Jack Savage and Barry John Keane had the scores at 40th minute Kerins O’Rahillys[S1] 0-9 to Dr. Crokes 1-12.

Further points by Barry John and Greg O’Connell had the scores at Kerins O’Rahillys 0-11 to Crokes 1-12 at the 45th minute. We had a great chance of a goal when Tommy Walsh fielded a great ball but nothing came out of it.

We had further points from Barry John Keane and John Ferguson and Jack Savage but Dr. Crokes held out for a deserved win. Speedy recovery to Giles O’Grady and all the club and county send Giles best wishes. (SEE MORE PHOTOS AND REPORT FROM THE GAME BY CLICKING HERE)

Juvenile News
U6 Boys and Girls – Still have good numbers turning up every Saturday morning. We have lots of new equipment arriving this week so loads of fun should be had by all the boys and girls. New players always welcome.

U8 Boys – Richard, Rob and Ed are very pleased with the progress the U8s are making all year. Training on Thursday evening finished last Thursday but Saturday morning training will continue for another couple of weeks.

U10 Boys – The boys had a great morning last Saturday morning when Firies came in to play us in a challenge match. 3 short games were played with every player getting full game time. The boys showed great skills and played some great football. All the hard work by Adrian, Robert, Cathal and Peter has really paid off. The U10s have also finished their Thursday evening training but will still continue with Saturday morning. In 2 weeks’ time we will take part in the U10 Munster blitz in Mallow so everyone needs to put in a big effort in training next Saturday.

U8 and U10 Girls – Dan and Cliff are still getting great numbers every Saturday and the girls are really progressing each week.

U12 Boys – The U12 boys had a great season this year and are now on a well-earned break.

U14 Boys – The U14s played St Pats last Sunday morning in lovely sunshine out in Blennerville.  The boys played very well and secured their second win out of 2 games. They have a back game with Austin Stacks on Monday evening at 6pm in Strand Rd and regardless of the result they are now in the final of the Town League. Best of luck to the team and mentor Mazie, Mark and J.T. Details of the final will be known by mid-week.

U16 Boys – The U16s played St Pats on Thursday evening last in Strand Rd in the third game of the Town League. The boys put on a great display and finished with a great win. Great credit goes to Joby, Martin, Philip and Keith for all the work they put in with the boys all year. Between injuries and unavailability of players at times it wasn’t always easy to get a full squad together but the boys never gave up and every fixture was fulfilled and contested well. A special mention to the 5 U14 boys who always stepped up to the mark when asked to fill in when needed.

Finally everyone in the juvenile club would like to pass on our good wishes to Giles O’Grady who is recovering in hospital after a bad injury sustained in the championship game on Saturday last. Giles had been coaching the U12 to U16 boys all last winter in the Green and his core training had the boys in great shape when the season started. We all hope we will see him back in the club very soon.
