Senior County Championship:

Following the completion of 3rd games in the Garveys Supervalu county championship the quarter final draw saw St Brendans paired with Kenmare Shamrocks who got the better of Mid Kerry in a close encounter on Sunday.

The game is fixed for Saturday next, 5th October in Fitzgerald Stadium where throw in is @ 15.30

The remaining games will see an East Kerry derby between Dr Crokes and Rathmore, defending champions will take on St Kierans with the final fixture between Templenoe and Dingle.

Fixtures are scheduled for next weekend and  once available will be posted on social media platforms.

Declan Quill:

Declan and his co bainisteoir Dara Long, have announced that they are stepping aside from their roles with the Kerry ladies senior team.

They bow at the top, leaving at the pinnacle of success. They will have learned valuable lessons along the way, the heartbreak of two All Ireland final losses and now the thrill of a massive achievement following their win over Galway last month.

There is no doubt that both will be back patrolling the sidelines in the future imparting their knowledge and expertise to other teams – we wish them both the best of luck for the future.

Sports Capital Grants:

There was much comment and delight with the announcement during the week of the allocation of Sports Capital Grants for clubs and societies in the county.

We share that delight with the announcement that Holy Family School has been allocated almost €170k in funding to assist with the development of a new Astro Turf pitch on their grounds.

We partnered with the school in this venture which will be used by pupils and our members alike- this is an important development and we look forward to cementing our ties with the school over the coming years.

Our thanks to principal Maria O’Regan for providing this opportunity and our own Padraig Griffin who is part of the staff in Holy Family – mol an óige agus tiocfaidh siad.

Healthy Club:

We have been busy getting your Healthy Club up and running. There are a lot of admin tasks to be completed before we start to implement programmes for the club and community. We want to get this right so that this project will benefit the club and surrounding community now and far into the future.

With that in mind would you mind taking two minutes to complete this form? It will help us to develop our Healthy Club Program. It would be great if you can submit your response by 4th Oct 2024. Thank you!

Juvenile Academy:

Unfortunately due to the weather warning our last training session for academy along with games were cancelled on Sunday – but don’t worry on Sunday 6th October we will have an end of season fun day in Strand road main pitch from 10.30am to 12pm. Some fun and games and medal presentations will take place for our Juvenile Academy players. We look forward to seeing you all there.

U11 Boys:

Unfortunately, due to the yellow rain warning the blitz in Castleisland was cancelled.

Thus concludes the u11 season for 2024.

We want to say a huge thank you to all the players for the great season they have put in. They were absolutely brilliant to show up for training and games. We want to pay special tribute to  the parents for all the dropping and collecting ye have been doing all year. Without your support, we wouldn’t have a team. Thanks so much.

U13s

U13 Boys:

Hard to find the words to do justice for these true Blues as Sunday evening we lost our 2nd Final after extra time in just two weeks.  They showed resilience, talent and grit along the way and in two short years they worked their way from Div 7 to Div 1 and made it to all 3 Finals in all 3 competitions we were in.

U13s

The future is bright  and they can hold their heads high. Thanks to you, the parents for always bringing them to training and games and for your continued support.

Ladies Notes:

U15 Girls:

Due to the weather warning the girls Semi Final was postponed  on Sunday evening, new date to be confirmed. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates.

Under 17s

U17 Girls:

Our U17s had a great win Wednesday evening at home against Beale in the Semi Final of the Championship. The backs played a great game,  very strong on defense keeping Beale from scoring throughout the game. We kept the scoreboard ticking over with scores from Aimee, Aoife, Kelly, Chloe & Aoibheann. Great performance by all. Best of luck in the Final on Wednesday evening.

Huge congratulations to both our club players Lily Mae (U16 Girls) and Shea (U13 Boys) for being selected for the Basketball Ireland Academies! Both play for local basketball team Tralee Magic.  Wishing them both all the best.
