Munster Grade F and Senior Open

This past weekend, the Munster F Open and the Munster Senior Open took place in the SETU Arena in co. Waterford. We had players from Kerry playing in both competitions over the course of the weekend. Fergal Hannon and Micheal Belova Flanagan (Both Listowel) took part in the Munster Senior Open on Saturday. Micheal lost out to a well playing Tony Murphy from (Alpha). While Fergal made it to the quarter-finals losing out to Praneel Reddy Vallapureddy the beaten finalist from Pembroke in Dublin.

In the Munster Grade F Open, Hassib Ahmad and Alvin Rahman Fahad (Both Killarney) teamed up in the doubles winning their first round game in a close encounter, the second set going all the way to 27-25. Unfortunately in their second round game they fell to a strong Waterford pairing.

Alvin then paired up with Kingdoms Jessica O’Loughlin in the mixed doubles where they were unlucky in their game that went to 3 sets losing out 21-17 in the 3rd set.

A big well done must be said to all competitors on the day and also to all those involved in the running of such competitions. Congratulations to all.

Dublin Juvenile Open

Last weekend October 26th to 28th, Micheal Belova Flanagan was also in action in the Dublin Juvenile Open where he had a very successful weekend as did his sister Alexia Belova Flanagan. Micheal competed in the u19 age group where he won the boys singles and also teamed up with Guru Thirukumaran (Carlow) to take the boys doubles title.

Alexia was playing in the u13 category in the same competition that weekend. She managed to make it to all 3 finals, becoming the runner up in the singles, winning the doubles title with Doireann Moloney (An Droichead) and also getting runner-up in the mixed doubles competition with her partner Luca Goddard (Alpha). Well done to all.
