THE Kerry Islamic Outreach Society (KIOS) is looking for donations to send to the thousands of refugees that have become stranded at the French port of Calais as a result of the current refugee crisis in Europe.

The society is looking for any basic necessities that can be spared, with men’s clothes and shoes, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, toiletries and tinned food topping the list of items required.

It is being asked that no money or medicine is donated with the items.

The collections will start on the morning of Thursday September 3, when people will be able to drop their donations into the Kerry Islamic Outreach centre located on Maine Street opposite Radio Kerry.

The deadline for the collection will be on Monday September 14.

Members of the society will then travel to Calais to deliver the supplies to the refugee camp located there.

For those who are unable to donate any items, you can help out in another way by giving a small contribution to the fundraising page HERE, where they are looking to raise €1000 for the cause.
