TWO current Kerry GAA stars with strong ties to Tralee CBS, helped launch the secondary school’s inaugural 5k and 3k fun run in aid of a new astro turf facility on the school grounds.
The fun run will take place on Sunday, September 27 at 1pm sharp.
Story continued below…
Barry John Keane, a past pupil of The Green, and Marc Ó Sé, a current member of staff, are in full preparation mode ahead of the All-Ireland final, but took a little time to get behind the new astro-turf drive for funds.
The running bug has well and truly been established in the Green school as a result of the very successful ‘Classroom to 5k’ programme.
CBS teachers Helen Kelliher and Karen Tobin, organisers of this event, are both keen runners and members of Born To Run Club.

The race will commence and finish in the school grounds, taking in the Town Park and outlining areas, making the routes fast, flat and safe.
The less challenging 3k is aimed at novice runners and local primary school children, while the 5k will suit all ages and abilities.
The cost of this event is €5 for children/students and €10 for adults. This will be a timed race. There will be plenty of prizes on the day and a medal for all participants.
Post-race refreshments, kids, entertainment and hopefully the presence of the Sam Maguire, will ensure a great occasion and day out for all.
Registration forms are available from the school and all information can be found on our Facebook page (CBS, The Green Inaugural 5k and 3k Fun Run) or by contacting the school on (066) 7145824.
