AN anti-racism group organisation is calling on all schools and youth services in Kerry to enter for the Anti Racism Creative Competition 2016.

Two tickets, sponsored by the FAI, for an Ireland Senior International soccer match, are given to all schools and youth services who submit entries. All submissions will also be invited to send a group to the awards exhibition at the Aviva Stadium.

The competition run by Show Racism the Red Card aims to address racism through education and involves young people developing creative messages about racism and integration, using written, visual and audiovisual means.

Show Racism the Red Card is an international, anti-racist, not-for-profit organisation. Their mission is to challenge racism through providing education resources and intercultural activity which support integration.

To get involved in the initiative, schools and youth services can register online. Once registered, ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ will send a DVD education pack to help teach the anti-racism message.

Participants are encouraged to work in groups to develop their anti-racism messages, and applications are then made through their school or youth organisation.

The closing date for applications to the creative competition is Friday, April 8. The competition will culminate in an awards exhibition at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on May 11.  Awards will be given to the best entries under categories including: Best Primary School, Best Secondary School, Best Youth Service, and Best Overall.

In previous years, the awards exhibition has been attended by a host of well-known figures including President Michael D. Higgins, former Ministers Alan Shatter and Aodhán Ó Ríordán, TV presenter Diana Bunici and former Ireland international Kevin Kilbane.  A similarly high-profile list of guests will be on hand for the 2016 event.
