GARDAÍ in Tralee and around the country are to check tyres this Wednesday as part of National Tyre Safety Day.
In a national operation, Gardaí will be stopping vehicles and checking for offences relating to bald tyres and tyres unsuitable for their vehicles.
They are appealing for motorists to check their tyres to make sure they are roadworthy.
The Road Safety Authority asks road-users to ensure their tyres are the right type and size for the vehicle, are properly inflated, do not have defects and have tread depths of at least 1.6mm.
