A MAN has been arrested after an alleged attempted robbery in Princes Street this morning.
At 8.10am, the man entered Hussey’s Shop on Princes Street holding an iron bar. The man is alleged to have confronted a staff member but the woman behind the counter bravely refused to accede to his demands and raised the alarm.
The man fled the shop empty-handed and was apprehended by the gardaí soon after.
It comes after a series of attempted robberies on Tralee businesses recently. MJ’s Diner in Clash, Spar in Oakpark, Leahy’s Pharmacy and Hynes’ Quik Pik in Shanakill have all been targeted in the past week, most during business hours.
Gardaí have made arrests in all these cases and suspects are due before the courts.
Gardaí are also looking to reunite a handbag with its rightful owner. The bag, containing identification for a Courtney Ryan, was handed into the Garda station on August 15.
They are also looking for the rightful owner of a substantial amount of cash found at Bridge Place, Tralee at midday on Tuesday, August 11.
If you have lost a quantity of money, contact Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
