Many Support Programmes And Classes This Autumn At Recovery Haven

Recovery Haven 1THIS autumn is busy in Recovery Haven with a number of services available to those affected by cancer.

This October will see the return of their very successful Men’s Prostate Programme. This is a 6 week course and is aimed at men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer in the past two years.This programme will commence Tuesday 4th October 7-9pm.

Recovery Haven will also be running an 8 week programme called ‘Living Life’. This is aimed to provide information and support to those living with a secondary cancer diagnosis.

It is an opportunity to meet others dealing with secondary cancer daignosis. This will take place on alternate Wednesdays, commencing Wednesday October 5th, 7-9pm.

October also sees the return of pilates classes on Tuesdays (commencing October 4th) with an intermediary class at 10.15am and beginners at 11.15am.

A Mindfulness class for those dealing with cancer will recommence on Thursday, October 13 at 10.30am.

Finally, Cancer Week Ireland is taking place between Monday, October 17 and Sunday, October 23. This national initiative hopes to raise awareness of cancer and advances in care and treatment.

To play their part in this initiative, Recovery Haven will be hosting a free talk in The Oaks Hotel, Killarney on Wednesday, October 19 at 7.30pm.

They will shine a light on cancer, how to prevent it, spot it and treat it. Speakers on the night include Dr. Deirdre O’ Mahony Consultant Medical Oncologist CUH & UHK, Dr Eamon Shanahan General Practitioner and Mr. Eddie Myers ANP Gastroenterology UHK and Regina Galvin Dietitian UHK.
