A LISTOWEL native is gearing up for a very momentous day at the Kerry County Library this coming Monday September 7 when her second book entitled ‘Finding Your Ancestors In Kerry’ is launched.
Kay Caball, who lived in town at Day Place for many years, will be joined by Minister Jimmy Deenihan to launch the book.
This will be the second book that she has written, after her first book, ‘The Kerry Girls’, was released back in 2014.
Her new publication will be a comprehensive guide to tracing your ancestors in Kerry. It will describe all the various sources of information online and offline which are available for doing research, where each of these can be accessed and how to best use them in your search for your ancestors.
“Since 2008, I have been qualified as a genealogist and I have a website called ‘My Kerry Ancestors’. I get so many people on the site asking me questions and while a lot of the answers are very simple, some are not so simple,” said Kay when talking to TraleeToday.ie this week.
“I wanted to compile a book telling people how they would find the answers and their ancestors themselves. There was already books like this for all other different counties,” she continued.
“The last such book for Kerry was released back in 2001, but this new book would have all the up to date information such as the digital sources as well. It should be available in shops around Kerry,” she said.
The Minister will launch ‘Finding Your Ancestors In Kerry’ this coming Monday, September 7, at 2.30pm at the Kerry County Library, for anyone that may be interested in attending.
