Blasket ad 4 rsz_ian_odohertyTralee-based musician, Ian O’Doherty, has released a brand new single called ‘Woven’ along with an impressive video to go with it.

“The idea is to hit single after single and use them to raise awareness and maybe something will stick,” Ian said.

“I plan to release three more singles this year, its a better way of making inroads and less costly than making an album,” he added.

The video was filmed in the Wicklow mountains by the ‘Bold Puppy’ production company which originated in Dingle, so the Kerry link remains strong.

The excellently shot video follows a man as he wanders across an Irish wilderness in a vain attempt to save a flower he has been carting around. Ian is currently working with acclaimed Cork act O Emperior’s drummer Brendan Fennessy.

The two are old college buddies, the dynamic between them being, as Ian says, “I write the songs and we both shape what it will eventually sound like”.

The introduction of Fennessy certainly adds a few more layers to Ian’s work. The new song is a follow up to last year’s ‘Never In Colour’ EP which was released on the Kerry-based ‘Fat of the Land’ record label which Ian runs with his partner, Ali Keane.
