North Kerry Project To Receive Over €1.3m In Funding

OVER €1.3m has been allocated for a transformative regeneration project for Kerry under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

Listowel Food Hub in Clieveragh will receive the €1.365m— announced this morning by Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring —for the project which will deliver a Food Hub in Listowel with 5 state-of-the-art food production units and a research and development suite.

It’s hoped the project will strengthen and build sustainable food production in the region and drive entrepreneurship and enterprise development. It has the potential to create up to 50 new jobs.

Welcoming the funding, Leas Cathaoirleach Senator Paul Coghlan from Kerry said: “This funding will deliver significant benefits for those living in our towns and villages in Kerry. The projects that this Fund supports are targeting areas where they can have the greatest economic and social impact and will help support communities in facing the uncertainty still posed by Brexit.”

Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring said: “Today’s announcement represents the completion of the second call for funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

“We have had a phenomenal level of interest, with applications of an excellent standard, and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all those who were successful.”
