BIODIVERSITY Week is returning to the great outdoors this year offering a range of family friendly, fun events that celebrate Kerry’s wildlife.
From Saturday May 14th until Sunday May 22nd many local groups are running events, days out, walks and talks on the many aspects of Kerry’s wildlife.
Events are kindly co-ordinated by Transition Kerry with support from Tralee Wetlands Centre; Gortbrack Farm; Forest Connections; Magharees Conservation Association, LIVE (Llŷn IVeragh Eco-museums) and Tidy Town committees all over the county.

Any budding wildlife photographers should enter Ireland’s 10th Annual Biodiversity Photographer of the Year competition.
The competition, open to all amateur photographers, is looking for photographs that capture an image of some of the biodiversity in your area. Whether you live in the heart of the countryside or the centre of a city, there is wildlife to be found.
Photos must be taken in the month of May and can be submitted at https://biodiversityweek.ie/photo-competitions/ between May 1st and May 31st.
The week is funded by Kerry County Council and supported nationally by the Irish Environment Network and the Heritage Council.
The events are open to everyone and many are suitable for children (accompanied by adult). Bookings only required for a few events. Further details can be obtained from https://biodiversityweek.ie/and https://www.kerryheritage.ie/events/
