APPARENTLY Kanye West knows fashion!
I say this with my tongue firmly fixed in my cheek having seen what he showed in New York Fashion Week at the weekend.
How the ‘Queen of Style’, Anna Wintour, sat with a straight face is beyond me. To add insult to injury his wife Kim Kardashian was accompanied in the front row by her less than impressed toddler daughter North who let out a few screeches (clearly her eyes were hurting from the “fashion” shown by her dad).

Surely a fashion show with loud music and flash photography is not the place for a toddler, but hey, each to their own.
What I do find unjust is that there are thousands of fashion designers all over the globe who will never be given the opportunity to show at NY Fashion Week as they do not have the fame, or the contacts, that Mr West can boast about.
For those of you haven’t seen pictures of his collection, think Granny’s brown tights meets Jane Fonda work-out gear in a mawkish beige colour.
Dreadful is the only word to describe it and annoying that the world press photographers were fawning over it.

Granted there was certainly an A-List group taking up the prized seats in the FROW; the aforementioned Anna Wintour who basically decides what is in fashion world wide, Beyonce and hubby who always seem to look less than comfortable when in the company of the Wests, Rihanna, the list goes on…
I hate being unkind but I cannot for the life of me understand the fixation on the Kardashians. Admittedly I have watched a few episodes and the entire programme is based about the family trials and tribulations, all laid bare for the viewers to see.
They get lots of free stuff and endorse products that then, in turn, sell out. Nice work if you can get it I guess.
Recently in the ladies toilet of a bar, a girl said to me that she loved my lipstick, allegedly it was “So KK”.
I had to ask what this meant and was told that my choice of lipstick colour was like a colour that Kim Kardashian herself would wear.
Cue Orlagh grabbing toilet tissue and removing offending colour. As I say, not wanting to be unkind, but the Kardashian girls have become huge style icons for millions of girls worldwide and quite simply, I don’t get it. I don’t like their style, but then again I am way outside their target market.
I do however admire their business brains, they have accumulated a multi-million dollar empire and let’s face it, you don’t achieve that from being dumb!
In the meanwhile, don’t forget that there are still tickets available for our very own KFW, checkout their website www.kerryfashionweek.com
Until next week,
Stay stylish.
Orlagh xx
