IT’S that time of year again when we show our appreciation for the dads in our lives.
They’ve done a lot for us kids over the years; changing our nappies (the odd one did this), driving us to school/soccer/rugby/ballet practice, roaring at us on the football field, throwing dirty looks at boyfriends, punishing us for underage drinking/buying our first legal drink, encouraging us in our careers and constantly, constantly giving us money Gawd bless ’em.
So this Sunday, show them how much they mean to you by getting them something from the list below…
1. Aftershave
Nothing says ‘you smell, try to cover it up’ like giving aftershave to your dad. Actually, it’s a pretty practical gift that he’ll actually use, so head down to CH Chemists where there’s a range of top brands at less than half price including Tommy Hilfiger, David Beckham and DKNY.
2. Food Glorious Food
Give mum a break as well this Sunday by taking them both out for Sunday lunch. There’s a great four course meal at the Fels Point Hotel’s stylish ‘Morels Restaurant’ for €25 this Father’s Day, while Kirby’s Brogue Inn is always a winner for Sunday lunch.
3. Clothes Make The Man
Dads need to look good and Ryle Menswear is running a 20% off casual wear sale until Sunday, as well as stocking a selection of Calvin Klein Boxer Shorts/Briefs – Happy Socks – Jockey Underwear – GANT Pyjamas – GANT Flip Flops and many more quality products.
4. Take him for few pints
The whole present and card giving ceremony can be a bit awkward for some guys and dads alike, so why not take him out on the lash and do a bit of father/son bonding. After the dinner in the Brogue or Fels Point, wash down the steak with a few pints watching the hurling on the big screen in The Blasket.
There you are now, Father’s Day all sorted!
