IT was a rainy Sunday morning as over 300 runners took off from The Rose Hotel for the Optimal Fitness 10 Miler/5 Race.
Organised by Michelle Greaney of Optimal Fitness, the event was enthusiastically received by runners and was a perfect way to prepare for the upcoming Tralee Marathon and Half-Marathon next month.
Around 100 took part in the 5k while the rest came from all over Kerry, Limerick, Cork and beyond to run the 10 Miler.

It was a local man Derek Griffin who won the Overall 10 mile race in a time of 56:05 followed by Donal White three seconds behind and third was Donal O’Callaghan.
First female home was Sharon Cahill from An Riocht in 1:05:56 with Maire Claire Healy taking second position and in third was Michelle O’Regan.
In the 5k distance Cathal O Donabhain from St. Finbarr’s AC took the title in 16:07 with Niamh O’Mahony first female home in 19:15 (third place overall). For the full results click here.The Kerry Cancer Support Group will also benefit from the day’s event. Scroll down for photos…
