ANTI-WATER Charge campaigners and protesters again showed their defiance of Irish Water and the Government in the Square yesterday evening as they publicly burnt their bills.

THE Kerry Branch of the Right2Water movement were the group behind the event as they encouraged everyone present to avoid payment of their water bills.

The crowd made their feelings about Irish Water very clear as they cheered on the first burning of the pieces of paper.

The group had a large metal bin set up in the middle of the raised area in the where they encouraged the gathered crowd to come up one by one to burn their bills.

“There’s 6 out of 10 people in this country already not paying their bills. On the 29th of August above in Dublin, Right2Water are going to have another major protest. There will be hundreds of thousands of people on the streets again and it will be another nail in the coffin of Irish Water,” said Michael O’Gorman, one of the organisers of the demonstration, as he proceeded to burn his bill.

“This is for the people that can’t afford their bills. As the song goes, ‘Burn Baby Burn’,” he finished.
