THE Kerry 24/12/6 Hour Endurance Race took place over the weekend with nearly 70 people taking part.
While some opted for the six and 12 hour races, most took part in the 24 hour option which saw them run around the 0.75 mile loop around the Town Park from 12 noon on Saturday to the same time on Sunday.
Darren Sheridan from the Dublin Bay Running Club was the 1st man home in the Kerry 24 Hour Endurance Race, covering an amazing 130.25 miles, Fozzy Forristal from Listowel, ran an incredible 120.7 miles in the 24 hour period.
Each finisher received a specially commissioned Kerry 24/12/6 Hour Endurance Medal and Tech finisher top, and those that completed over 100 miles in the 24 Hour Race received an extra “Kerry 24 Hour Hoodie” to commemorate their amazing achievement.
In order to be deemed a finisher for the Kerry 24/12/6 Hour Endurance Race participants had to cover a minimum of 26.2 miles for the 6 hour event (35 laps), 30 miles for the 12 hour event (40 laps), and 60 miles for the 24 hour event (80 laps).
To qualify as a 100 mile finisher, participants had to complete 133.4 laps. Participants who failed to cover the required distance for each event did not receive a medal or tech top.
