OLD sewing machines, a hot whiskey maker, ration books and more were on display as Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn had a Pop-Up Museum in the school to help them respond to the Strand in History Curriculum that involves working as a historian.
The children spent weeks searching their homes for old items such as photographs, antique gramophones, radios, cameras, telephones, as well as other artefacts and historical objects.
The event proved to be hugely successful. Many of the items were of tremendous interest, ranging from a bugle used in the Battle of the Somme in the First World War to a Vinyl Record of Joe Dolan, to a County Football Championship Medal dating back to 1967.

There was also a ration book from the Emergency and the Second World War. Family heirlooms were put on display for all to inspect and learn of their uses.
Pupils were able to see for themselves how our everyday items have evolved and developed over time. It was a hugely enjoyable learning experience for young and old.
