TO celebrate the 2016 European Week of Sport, the CARA Centre based at the South Campus of IT Tralee organised an event themed ‘Bring Back The Mile’ this week.
The 2016 European Week of Sport and Physical Activity is being celebrated across Ireland from 10-18 September. The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level.
“The aim for the event today was to play our part in getting people to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more,” stated Michael Gilroy at CARA.

A big cheer went up when Joe O’Connor from Nisus Fitness and Ireland’s Fittest Family officially started the event.
The event encouraged participants to take a couple of minutes away from their screens and desks to walk a measured metric mile of 1,609 metres.
The route took in the walkway of the South Campus at IT Tralee with the addition of the walkway to and from the neighbouring Tralee Sports Complex to make up the world famous distance.
