WITH the Status Orange weather warning issued for the weekend, Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí students were aptly dressed on Friday.
However, it wasn’t Jorge-related. It was to do with a special event for Cycle Against Suicide. All the students were asked to wear an item of orange clothing, in order to complete another ‘gear’ towards their Cycle Against Suicided Ambassador award.
The school was awarded the Cycle Against Suicide Ambassador award for the second time last year in recognition of the work the students did to promote positive wellbeing.

The Ambassador School Programme is school-led, and involves the completion of “Five Gears” over the course of a year, all of which are aimed at raising awareness of the message that “It’s OK not to feel OK; and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help”.
“Every year we do different initiatives, so today we went orange to highlight wellbeing and resilience,” explained Career Guidance teacher Eibhlín Ní Mhuircheartaigh.
“We also had a wellbeing week and we also had campaign where first years went without their phones for a week, so they would take a break from social media. All these programmes lead up to gaining an award from Cycle Against Suicide.” Scroll down for photos…
