OVER 200 people came to Siamsa Tire on Saturday night for a special screening of ‘Spa Fenit – A Journey Through Time’.
The documentary, made by Jim McCarthy of Digimac Video Productions’, takes the viewer on a historical journey through time, recording the day-to-day life, history, experiences of local people and places.
“It was a fantastic turnout tonight. People really appreciated what we did, capturing the moment in time,” said Jim McCarthy. “It’s part of history and it’s great for the younger generation growing up that they can enjoy the stories from Fenit and the Spa.”

The DVD contains interviews and stories about all parts of Fenit and the Spa. It features stories on Barrow Castle, the pier and the story of the Marita Ann with interviews with the crew among other items. It also has shots of the breathtaking scenery in an area which is often an unsung jewel in Kerry.
“We try to capture the area as it is. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Kerry and it’s unappreciated by a lot of people,” said Jim.
Jim thanked Sinead Cotter from the Spa for opening the night and Jackie Murphy who did the narration and Jim Browne who provided stories in the documentary.
