Austin Stacks 1-15
Newcastlewest 0-8
AUSTIN Stacks will play St Finbarrs of Cork in the Munster Club Senior Football Championship final after they comprehensively beat Newcastlewest in the sunshine of Austin Stack Park this afternoon.
The Tralee side did most of the work in the first half and led by 0-9 to 0-1 at the short whistle, with Newcastlewest only getting their first score in the 24th minute.
Newcastlewest did make an attempt at a comeback and narrowed the gap to six points on 37 minutes, but when Brendan O’Sullivan scored a goal on 41 minutes it was game over.

Conditions were ideal for football and Austin Stacks played with the wind in the first half. They started well with a free on three minutes from Sean Quilter, followed a couple of minutes later by another free from Darragh O’Brien who notched up eight points of the Rockies tally for the day, five of them from frees.
Time and time again, Newcastlewest failed to breach the Stacks defence while the Tralee side played direct football and raced into an unassailable lead which they never looked in danger of surrendering.
Once O’Sullivan scored that goal to make it 1-12 to 0-5 the matter was settled. They can enjoy Christmas now with one eye on the challenge ahead in January against Rebel opposition.
The scorers for Austin Stacks were Darragh O’Brien 0-8 (0-5 frees), Brendan O’Sullivan 1-2, Kieran Donaghy 0-2, Sean Quilter 0-1, Greg Horan and Shane O’Callaghan 0-1 each. Scroll down for photos…
