A SPECTACULAR night of entertainment was enjoyed by over 700 people in Ballygarry House Hotel last night for the inaugural John Mitchels GAA Club ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event.
While the 11 couples impressed the judges and audience alike, there had to be one winner and the silky moves of Frank O’Donnell and Mary Fitzgerald stood out for them to be crowned winners. They each received €500 to donate to their chosen charity which was the Oncology Unit at University Hospital Kerry.
The crowds started taking their seats about 9o minutes before the opening dance of the night, with a rush for the front to get the best view of the action.

An excellent performance by the Tenacity School of Performing Arts got the crowd going before Brian Hurley – as always the perfect MC for the occasion – introduced the opening dance as the lads came out in full Mitchels gear while the ladies looked pristine in white.
What followed was three hours of fun and the audience lapped it up, with dancers showing the fruits of their hard work under choreographer, Laura Flaherty.
The dancers taking part were John O’Shea and Ena O’Shea; Denis Mannix and Mary Higgins; Frank O’Donnell and Mary Fitzgerald; Graham Higgins and Clodagh Fitzgerald; David Leahy and Mags Savage; John Fitzgerald and Clair McEvoy; Paul Barden and Miriam Moriarty Owens; Stephen Reidy and Claire O’Sullivan; Adrian O’Mahony and Andrea Dolan; George Lowe and Liz Conway; Aaron McLarnon and Lyndsey Moriarty.
The judges were Ms. Anne Gibson, Ms Jackie O’Mahony, Mr Tim Landers and Michael Healy-Rae TD.
The money raised from Strictly will be used for the development of the Club at Juvenile and Senior level. Scroll down for photos (we’ll have loads more later)…
