IT was a fantastic September Saturday as hundreds of young girls and their coaches converged on the John Mitchels GAA Grounds for the annual Sandra Keane U13 Memorial Tournament.
Sponsored this year by Daughton Plant Hire, the tournament, which is run by the North Kerry Ladies Football Board, has been a massive success since it was first initiated in 2013.
Teams taking part this year were; Kerins O Rahillys – John Mitchels – Na Gaeil – Austin Stacks – Na Gaeil – St Pats – Castleisland Desmonds – Annascaul – Abbeydorney – Scartaglin – MKL Gaels – Shannonside/Tarbert and Knocknagoshel/Brosna.

There were four trophies up for grabs; Cup, Shield, Plate and Trophy. Winners of the Cup were MKL Gaels who defeated Abbeydorney. Annascaul were winners of the Shield, Austin Stacks won the Plate and Shannonside/Tarbert the Trophy.
The tournament is in memory of Sandra Keane who was not only a player, but she managed teams and was a loyal supporter to her club Kerins O’Rahillys until her untimely death in 2007. Scroll down for photos…
