A YEAR to remember for Austin Stacks GAA club was celebrated in style on Saturday night as nearly 300 of the Rockies faithful gathered in Ballygarry House Hotel for a Victory Social.
The success of the senior team was certainly to the fore after their win over Kerins O’Rahillys in the County Final but the B Footballers also enjoyed success this year.
Club Chairman Shane Lynch said it was an opportunity to look back on two years of success for the club.
“It’s really two years we are celebrating tonight. We won the club championship in 2020, but with COVID we couldn’t have a social. The last year though has been an incredible odyssey for all of us and has given everybody a huge lift as we’ve come out of COVID.

“We’re hugely proud of what the players have achieved on the pitch, how they’ve made us feel and that’s really what we’re celebrating tonight. We had great days in Austin Stack Park and even in Thurles at the Munster final, despite the disappointment.”
“But really, this is the first proper big night out in two years. We haven’t really been able to socialise properly and that’s what we’re here for tonight,” said Shane.
A number of presentations were made, including medals for the Senior County Championship 2021, Senior Club Championship 2020 and 2021, Senior Tralee Town Championship 2020, Division 5 County League Winners 2021 and the Tralee Junior League 2021.
Senior Player of the Year went to Colin Griffin, B Player of the Year went to Conor Myers, the Supporter of the Year went to ‘The 16th Man’, a general award to the famous Austin Stacks fans who bring colour and noise to all big occasions.
Elma Nix also received a presentation for her outstanding service as secretary of the club. Meanwhile, Best Dressed Lady on the night went to Noelle Cregan and Best Dressed Man was Conor Donaghy.
The night began with a champagne reception at 6.30pm, followed by a delicious meal. After the medal presentation, ‘Heart & Soul’ provided the entertainment followed by DJ Francie Breen who rocked the Rockies until the early hours. Scroll down for photos…
