THE annual Tralee 10 Miler and 5k Road Race was a sellout success on Saturday morning with over 300 runners taking to the roads around the town.
It was an especially poignant day for organiser Michelle Greaney, as it coincided with the six month anniversary of the passing of her dad Michael, with this year’s race dedicated to his memory.
Proceeds from yesterday’s event — where runners started and finished on the road behind The Rose Hotel — will be donated to the Kerry Hospice as Michael was cared for by the incredible staff in the palliative care unit before his passing.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the day, I couldn’t have asked for better conditions for running,” said Michelle.
“It’s the fourth time we’ve organised it and it’s turned out to be the biggest. We’ve had runners from Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Waterford, Tipperary, Belfast and of course Kerry. It’s a special event this year remembering dad, so it’s a poignant day in that regard,” she added.
