OVER 1,300 cyclists converged on Tralee on Saturday for one of the biggest and best charity cycling events of the year.

The Stephen Roche Atlantic Challenge (SRAC) was an amazing opportunity to cycle with sporting legends out to see the sights of west Kerry and it was superbly hosted by Tralee’s Chain Gang Cycling Club.

Sporting legends Sean Kelly and Sonia O’Sullivan were among the masses taking part in the event which raises funds for Make-A-Wish Ireland, Seeking Vision, and The Alzheimer Society’s Rosemary Centre in Tralee.

They set off on the route from the Rose Hotel at 9am and finished on Denny Street from 1pm onwards where there was great atmosphere and medals for the finishers.

All agreed that the Chain Gang did a fantastic job in hosting the cycle — along with partners Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kerry County Council, an Garda Síochána, and other stakeholders — and the good news is Tralee will host the event for another two years, providing a great tourism boost for the town.
