Rise In Tralee Unemployment Figure In June

TRALEE’S jobless figure rose last month.

The latest figures from the  Central Statistics Office show there were 4,274 people signing on in the town in June, up 52 from May. It’s the first month on month rise since December to January.

The Tralee jobless figure though has fallen 15.5% in the past 12 months, as in June 2016 there were 5,054 signing on according to the CSO.

Overall in Kerry there were 8,927 signing on in June, but that’s a 16% drop on the June 2016 figure.

Elsewhere in the county last month, Killarney was down 43 to 1,178; Dingle down ten to 422; Kenmare down nine to 231, Caherciveen down 19 to 329.  Listowel rose seven to 1,824, while Killorglin’s  was unchanged at 669.
