THE funds raised from last Saturday’s Tralee 10 Miler and 5k Road Race were presented to Kerry Hospice yesterday evening.
The event, organised by Michelle Greaney, was dedicated to the memory of her father Michael who spent seven weeks in the Palliative Care Unit prior to his passing last August.
It was the most successful run to date and an amazing €6,365 was raised for the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

“Thanks to Michelle for considering the Kerry Hospice Foundation again,” said Maura Sullivan of the Kerry Hospice. “This year’s total has been exceptional and we’re so delighted with the donation. It’s going to a good cause.”
Michelle said she was delighted to help out the charity again.
“It’s more than double what we raised in previous years, we went all out getting sponsorship because of the year that was in it. I was delighted to be able to produce something of significance and welcome athletes of all abilities to run in beautiful surroundings of Tralee.”
On behalf of her family, Michelle also made a special presentation of a plaque to Dr Patricia Sheahan to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the amazing care Michael received there.
