KERRY Biodiversity Week has been running all this week, with International Biodiversity Day taking place today.
The week is being coordinated with Kerry County Council in collaboration with the Irish Environmental Network (IEN), who are hosting a calendar of events nationally. The theme this year is ‘We are all part of the Solution’.
Kerry Biodiversity Spotter Sheets, which were developed by Kerry County Council, will help you to explore the different habitats around you.
They are free to download here; https://www.kerryheritage.ie/biodiversity/
There are a large number of wildlife groups, community groups, Tidy Towns groups and schools working on local biodiversity projects around the county.
Usually, this week is celebrated with public events, nature walks and talks. But this year it was a little different, due to restrictions.
For more information about local events, keep an eye on the Kerry Biodiversity Week FB page: https://www.facebook.com/kerrybiodiversityweek/
For national events, see https://biodiversityweek.ie. The IEN are also running a photo competition: https://biodiversityweek.ie/photo-competitions/. This week is also supported by Kerry Public Participation Network (http://www.kerryppn.ie).
