Juveniles

U6: We had a beautiful Sunday morning for training on the AstroTurf with 13 boys & girls while the under 8s played away. Great to see the enthusiasm & practice at home by lots of our boys & girls. Notably Anna Poff & Emma Higgins are improving every week. Liam worked on a lot of hand passing drills this week along side an agility obstacle course. We had 2 little matches, great running & skill by the 6 more senior boys with a 3 vs 3 match leaving them all sweating & puffed! The girls really got the hang of hand passing in the other match.

Fantastic improvement in skills by Darragh Moriarty today after only starting last Sunday.. he earned himself the player of the week trophy.

Remember to keep moving at home boys & girls, it’s so good for development to spend time playing outside & on the ground, rolling, crawling, jumping, hopping, skipping etc.. that’s where the basics of movement start & coordination can develop.

Practice kicking & hand passing this week.
We are looking into new St Pats tops, for now so we can show support for our club by asking the boys & girls to wear red to training if they have got any St Pats kit.

U8: Our u8’s made the trip over the mountain this morning to play Listry in some fun games.

We had 23 players on the day and a huge thanks to the parents who made the trip. The Covid restrictions have made things harder for us all but it is great to keep the kids active and out in the fresh air on such a beautiful morning.

We had 3 teams who played 4 games each and the squad was suitably exhausted at the end.

Captains Fionn, Rilan and Darragh led by example and it was great to see the tackling and team work improve so much.

Fiacc was on hand to take some more photographs which will be uploaded later in the week and we would like to thank him as the quality of his photography is superb and provides parents with some great souvenirs of the day.

Finally, a big thanks to Listry for hosting us. Their facilities and organization is a credit to the club and its members.

U10: Our first Go-game of the season took place last Friday evening when we welcomed Listry to Blennerville. We were able to field 3 teams namely: the Reds, the Whites and the Blue teams which allowed all of our players to play in one of the three games that were played simultaneously in various pitches. We had correspondents at all the games to ensure comprehensive reporting of all the action.

The Blue team comprising of our U10 girls played Listry girls in a wonderfully contested game. Both teams gave it their absolute all right to the final whistle. Well done to all our players who played so well – Aimee, Grace, Hannah, Chloe, Ailbhe, Lainey, Saorlaith, Ashling and Alannah. For the St. Pats team, with a lot of players only beginning to develop their football skills, this game provided a new experience and one which they enjoyed.

Our White team, comprising of our younger U10 players had an enjoyable game against Listry. It was great to have so many players available and we tried to give everyone as much game time as possible. A skilful Listry side put our defence under pressure from the beginning, and our defenders, particularly Thomas Colivet, Noah Flynn and AJ Turner, fought hard for every ball. In midfield Cillian Enright and Darragh Flahive combined well and gained more possession as the game went on. Up front there were good performances from James O’Riordan, Rylan Flynn and Jace Flynn who capped off a fine display with a free from a tight angle.

Our more seasoned U10 players made up the Red team and competed in a tough game against a skillfull Listry team.  At times we were under pressure in defence and some great defending by James Daly, Jack Cashman and Eddie Hayes averted the danger on many occasions and when our defence was breached Gearoid Hingston in goals came to our rescue with many fine and brave saves. Of course it wasn’t one way traffic as our midfield pairing of Jack Flahive and Rian Flynn challenged very well to supply our dynamic forward duo of Tommy Costello and Hugh Costello along with Stephen Enright to ensure that we kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Our thanks to Listry for travelling to Blennerville and for the sporting competitive games enjoyed by all.

At the time of going to print our next Go Game is scheduled for Friday evening in Ardfert against Ardfert, details will have been circulated during the week.

U12: Currow 3-04 St Pats 3-11

Our U 12s recorded an excellent result against our host team Currow on Sunday last.  It was a close encounter and at half time Currow led by 1 03 v 0-05.  Currow started the 2nd half very well and scored 2 x goals to lead at the water break by

3-04 v 1-05.  However after that we played our best football and scored 2-07 without reply in a 10 minute spell to secure the 2 points. Well done to all members of the squad who continue to develop well as a team.

Panel: Jack Costello (Captain), Rory Daly, Jamie Bowler, James Daly, Luke Passway, Jack Flahive, Jack Cashman, Ródhan Culloo, Michaek Enright, Garry Scollard, Liam O’Connor, Conor Sheehan, Stephen Enright, Darragh Murphy

U14: Hard luck to our U14 boys who lost by 5 points to a skillful but robust Skellig Rangers side last Wednesday evening in a rescheduled round 1 phase 2 fixture. We were right in it up till the second water break as tiredness and a couple of bad decisions enabled the away side to head back South with all the points at stake.

We started very brightly with returnee, Diarmuid Waugh at the fore of our good play which resulted in some excellent scores and a well taken goal by Aiden Hayes. However, Skellig Rangers kept themselves in the game with some good scores of their own and could have raised the green flag but for great goalkeeping by Thomas Sheehy as the first-half ended 1-06 to 6 points. The second half saw the away side come out strongly and struck us for 2 goals. Leo Keane also scored a goal for us from direct play and we tried very hard to further reduce the gap the away side stood firm as the game ended on a score line of 2-10 to 2-05 in their favour.

It was announced last week that there will be one more round of games to finish out the season and this has been arranged for the weekend(19/20th). We will inform parents as soon as we have more information.

U16: St Senan’s 3-13 St Pats 1-09
