Blennerville/Ballyard Community Games

Well done to our Blennerville/ Ballyard athletes who travelled to the National Community Games finals in Carlow on Saturday 24th August.

Thomas Higgins was unfortunate not to be able to travel due to injury, we wish him a speedy recovery.

It was a great experience but a day of 5th Place for our athletes. The U14 relay team of Hugh, Rían, Tommy and Eddie (Stephen on holidays) were well drilled and ran to the best of their ability in a very fast heat with the top 4 qualifying for semifinals.

They finished strongly in 5th place. Harriet O’Loghlen jumped fantastically to earn her a place in the U12 girls long jump final. She jumped 4.05m finishing 5th just 1cm outside the medals!

Thank you to all the organisers, participants, and parents for making the long journey and lifelong memories for all! That is the end of our 2024 community games season, we look forward to another positive year for Blennerville/ Ballyard next year with lots of participation and volunteers to keep up the good work!

U8 Girls

We joined with our u10 girls today and played against our close neighbours and rivals from across the canal Churchill. We had 2 very competitive and rip-roaring games despite the gale force wind that was blowing.

Our U8 girls took the step up in their stride and acquitted themselves with great gusto and determination. We are travelling to Abbeydorney for a U8 go games blitz on Tuesday at 6.30pm be there at 6.15pm. Regards, Coaches.

U9

A quieter day than normal at our U9 training session as older boys had joined our u11’s for their Go Game. So, with our smaller group we had extra time to fine tune all our skills and finished with a super game.

U10

Our U10 Girls played against Churchill this morning with windy conditions. Thank you to Churchill for travelling this was part of our U10 games schedule.

U11

St Pats U-11’s travelled to lower Camp last Sunday to play Annascaul in the Central League. It was great to be able to field two teams again which were made up of our U9’s and u11’s.

All our players tried their best and the coaches were delighted with that. We are due to play An Gaeltacht during the week we will be in contact with parents with details of same. It is important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and keep practicing your skills at home during the week. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!

U12 Girls

We had a busy 8 days with training the last two Sunday mornings plus a game vs Kerins O’Rahillys last Thursday in wet conditions in Blennerville.

It was certainly a case of goals for Strand Road and points for our girls with some great scores from distance from Ailbhe, Ria, Kacey, and Emma. Grace and Mary Kate were excellent in defence with all the girls trying very hard in testing conditions.

Thanks very much to referee Billy Lacey who officiated the game and to coaches Edel and Ricky and the KOR girls for a competitive game.

We play Scartaglin on Tuesday in the second phase of the U12 County Go Games programme in Castleisland. Our next training is on Sunday from 11-12.
