PEOPLE are invited to take part in a special event tomorrow for the final time.

The organisers of the Jamie Wrenn/Mike Deane Memorial walk are calling on people to hit the road this Saturday morning at 10am from the Aquadome in aid of the Recovery Haven cancer support facility.

This year’s event will be particularly poignant for all involved, as organisers have decided it will be the last!

Over the past seven years, the fundraiser has raised in excess of €95,000 for a number of cancer charities across Kerry, all done in honour of two very special men who devoted their time to helping charitable causes.

As in previous years, walkers will leave Tralee’s Aquadome at 10am sharp (parking in The Brandon Car Park), travel to Curraheen for a brief stop off, then onto The Junction Bar in Camp for refreshments, after which walkers will travel on to the Seven Hoggs for a brief stop before finishing up at Maurice Fitzgerald’s Bar in Castlegregory for a BBQ, live music and plenty of celebrations.

For those living in Castlegregory and its environs, a bus will leave the village for Tralee on the morning of the walk, while anyone living in Tralee can avail of a return bus back to town that evening.

Organisers Mary Lynch and Sandra Finn also pointed out that there will be a bus travelling with the walkers on the day for anyone in need of a break along route.

The women are keen for as many people as possible to come out in support of this event, which raised an incredible €18,000 for Recovery Haven last July.
