A LOCAL councillor is asking the Council to look at joining the Ballyseedy walk with a well-known hotel.

Fine Gael Cllr. Jim Finucane has a motion before the meeting of Tralee Municipal District on Monday, that the MD in conjunction with hotel owners would look at the feasibility of connecting the Ballyseedy Castle Hotel walkway to the Ballyseedy Wood Walkway.

Replying to the motion, Council management informed councillors that directly adjoining Ballyseedy Castle, Ballyseedy Wood is a significant Tourism asset and amenity.

However, while connecting the Wood with the Hotel would be beneficial from a tourism perspective, any proposal would first have to undergo Appropriate Assessment Screening as the Wood is classified as an SAC.

Subject to no issues arising, a suitable funding stream would have to be identified to progress the project further.
