IF you’re travelling up to Dublin on Saturday, keep an eye out for a few cyclists making their way to the capital for the match.

Well known taxi driver, Kevin Finn, is making the journey from ‘Head2Head’ with a fellow cyclists Jim Breen (organiser of the Cycle Against Suicide), JJ Coffey, from Tralee, Stephen McDonald and Richie Comerford from Kilkenny, all for a good cause.

The lads set out from Slea Head on Friday morning for a cycle that will take them to Howth Head in Dublin on Sunday morning in aid of Childline. We caught up with them when they stopped off for breakfast in The Grand Hotel in town on Friday morning.

“I wanted to do something in the line of an endurance cycle, so I set this up after I heard an interview on Radio Kerry about Childline. I wanted to do my part for the charity,” said Kevin.

“Everyone goes from Mizen Head to Malin Head, but I wanted to leave from our own Slea Head to Howth and we’ll see how it goes. We’ve the hardest part done now, coming over Annascaul, through home territory,” said Kevin.

“The plan is that on Sunday morning we’re going from Templeogue Tennis Club, cycling to Howth Head then back into the city to O’Connell Street. We’ll savour the atmosphere, have a quick change and head  off to Croke Park. What condition we’ll be in is another story!” said Kevin.

On Saturday, the lads are travelling from Nenagh on the R445, the old Dublin road, up to the capital, so Kevin is asking that if any Kerry fans are travelling up by car to take the route and support them as there will be people their with buckets collecting for Childline.
