THE Kerry public is being called upon to take part in the ‘Donate a Library’ programme in which they must nominate an organisation throughout Ireland that they want to receive a number of books and library equipment, valued at €1,500 each.
Bord Gáis Energy are the organisation behind the campaign, now in its fourth year, who are hopeful of a large turnout in nominations from the people here in Kerry.
The energy company donates books to a number of worthy causes from local community groups to national charities.
Past recipients of the gift of books and library equipment include aged care facilities, schools, parish centres and support groups from all around the country.
“We’ve been involved in books projects now for many years and know that reading can be a really supportive and helpful resource for many people. The Donate a Library programme gives us the opportunity to offer voluntary organisations, in Kerry and beyond, a chance to enjoy the benefits of books and reading and gives our customers the chance to help a cause that’s important to them,” said Claire Smith from Bord Gáis Energy.
To nominate your chosen organisation, you can do so by heading over to the ‘Bord Gáis Energy Book Club’ site HERE.
The judging panel will consist of charity advocacy group: The Wheel, Sinead Desmond from the TV3 Ireland AM book club and this year’s Donate a Library ambassador Lisa Duffy.
