THERE was over 200 people in The Rose Hotel on Saturday night as families from around north Kerry pitted their wits against each other in aid of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Lixnaw.

The school, together with Trendhouse Events, put on a Family Gameshow, based on popular television shows “Family Fortunes” and “Mr & Mrs”.

Host Elaine Kinsella of Radio Kerry proved a great MC interviewing the contestants and there was great fun had by all with general knowledge questions and testing how well they know each other.

The teams taking part were The Gilberts (The G-String Team); The Molloys (The Outsiders); The Lynes (The Lyne Queens); The Stacks (The Coursing Clan); The Kellihers (The Gigglers); The O’Mahony-Maunsells (Simpsons Family and Friends); The Keanes (The Stage Family); The Sheehys (The Bog Road Bandits) and The Heffernans (The Holy Family).

In the end there could be only one winner and The Sheehys were the champions and received their prizes before DJ Tony entertained the crowds into the night. The event raise much-needed funds for necessary refurbishments to the school. Scroll down for photos…

Family Gameshow To Provide A Fun Night At Rose Hotel

 

Members of the Gilbert, Maunsell, Heffernan, Kelliher and Molloy families at the launch of the Family Gameshow evening in aid of Scoil Mhuire gan Smál Lixnaw.

THERE’S less than a week to go until families from Lixnaw, Abbeydorney and around north Kerry do battle in aid of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Lixnaw.

The school, together with Trendhouse Events, is putting on a Family Gameshow at The Rose Hotel on Saturday, February 4 at 8.30pm sharp. The gameshow is based on popular television shows “Family Fortunes” and “Mr & Mrs”.

This event will see neighbouring families from Lixnaw and other areas within North Kerry competing against each other in a night of fun entertainment.

Lixnaw is known for having produced many famous and highly entertaining families over the years and it will be interesting to see which of these take to the stage on the night.

The event will attempt to raise much needed funds for necessary refurbishments to the school.

The families will be represented by four members with nine families taking to the stage. Some of the families taking part include the Gilbert Family – Lixnaw; Maunsell Family – Abbeydorney; Kelliher Family – Lixnaw; Heffernan Family – Lixnaw and Molloy Family – Lixnaw / Tralee.

The gameshow itself will include some interesting general knowledge questions before testing each family on how well they really know each other. It’s guaranteed to be a fun night’s entertainment with music after the event until late.

Tickets for the night are available from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál Lixnaw, Foleys Gala Express, The Rose Hotel or from various committee members.

NINE families will do battle against each other for a great cause tonight (Friday) at the Recovery Haven Kerry Family Gameshow.

Taking place at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, the game, compered by Andrew Morrissey of Radio Kerry, will comprise of two rounds with five questions in each round.

General knowledge questions in the vein of ‘Family Fortunes’ will be followed by a round focussing on how well each family – with you members in each team – knows each other.

The nine families taking part on the night are; The O’Halloran Family, Ardfert; The Daly Family, Tralee; The O’Brien Family, Tralee; The Ferris Family, The Spa; The Collins Family, Kilmoyley; The Lyons Family, Listowel; The Carey Family, Tralee; The Wallace Family, Ardfert; The Glavin Family, Abbeydorney.

Tickets at €20 will be available on the door with finger food at the interval and entertainment after the show. Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm.
