Listowel To Receive Over €151,000 In Heritage Council Funding

HERITAGE Council funding of €151,596 has been allocated for Listowel town.

The funding is part of the Heritage Council’s Heritage Towns Initiative which is under the remit of Green Party Minister Malcolm Noonan.

The money will finance the conservation of seven properties in The Square, William Street and Church Street.

Local Green Party representative Anluan Dunne has welcomed the funding. “I am delighted to welcome further funding which has been granted to Listowel to continue the important work of conserving the town’s built heritage. Such conservation work is essential to maintain the historic fabric of Listowel town centre.”

The funding is part of a nationwide programme of works which seeks promote heritage-led regeneration and to improve the quality of Ireland’s historic towns and villages.
