FENIT LIFEBOAT STATION is appealing for people to take part in their annual charity cycle this Saturday to help keep this vital life-saving resource in action.

Last year, Fenit Lifeboat had 35 call outs, that’s 35 occasions where people’s lives were in danger.

In total there are 25 unpaid volunteer crew, who regularly risk all for others in sometimes treacherous conditions.

There are two lifeboats stationed at Fenit, one of them a large offshore boat the other a smaller inshore boat.

The cycle has been going since 2008 and along with church gate collections is one of Fenit Lifeboat’s three major annual fundraising events.

Registration for the event is between 9:15 and 10:15am at O’Donnells in Mounthawk on the morning of the cycle. It is scheduled to get going at 10:30am.

The cycle route will go through Farranfore, Castleisland then back to O’Donnells, where there will be refreshments served.

The minimum entry fee is €30, but if people want to give a little bit more on the day they can do so.
