Cork Woman Who Bought Lotto Ticket In Tralee Collects €250,000

.

SO it wasn’t a local winner after all.

A hard-working mother from Co. Cork is today (Monday) celebrating a quarter of a million euro win after she picked up her massive prize from Lotto HQ in Dublin City after she won the Lotto Plus 2 top prize on Saturday 12th October.

The lucky mother who wishes for her win to remain private discussed how she was on a well-earned spa break in Co. Kerry when she bought her winning ticket in Garveys SuperValu on Rock Street on her way to a local spa.

“You really couldn’t make it up!” she laughed. “I had been looking forward to the spa break for such a long time and on the way to Kerry, I randomly decided to stop off and get a Lotto ticket as an extra treat for my little break. I had the most relaxing weekend ever and I barely looked at my phone to get messages, let alone to check the Lotto numbers. All that time I was chilling out in Kerry and I had no idea that I had a ticket worth a quarter of a million euro in my handbag. It wasn’t until I got home that I found out. I read that the winning ticket was sold in Kerry and I had to do a double take to tell myself, ‘hang-on, I bought a ticket in Kerry’ – It was just incredible,” she said.

The winning Lotto Plus 2 winning ticket was purchased on Saturday 12th October at Garvey’s Supervalu in Tralee.

The woman admitted that while her family have been quietly celebrating for the past week, the reality of the size of their Lotto prize has yet to sink in.

“It’s been a mad house for the past week and I don’t think that we’ve really come to terms with it yet. We are a hard-working family so we won’t be getting carried away with it. What this win does mean is that it puts us into a very good position to provide the very best for our family with education costs and whatnot. We won’t rush into any mad spending until we get a proper plan in place for everybody,” she added.

A PLUCKY Kerry man has braved the force of Storm Ali to travel to Lotto HQ in Dublin to collect a cheque for €500,000 after he won the EuroMillions Plus top prize on Friday August 31st.

The lucky Kerry man who purchased his ticket at the Spar Store in Cahirciveen has discussed how he is keeping mega win private despite the intense speculation which has gripped the inhabitants Cahersiveen as they waited for the €500,000 EuroMillions winner to finally claim their prize.

“It’s been great craic. I have kept the win very quiet but the community of Caherciveen haven’t spoken about anything else since this EuroMillions win was announced – it’s been the talk of the town for the past three weeks! The people of Kerry love a good lottery win, that’s for sure. There has been lots of gossip among neighbours, friends and colleagues as to who the winner is! They have their eyes peeled for local cars making their way on the road to Dublin in the hope they might be able to catch the winner out,” he joked.

The lucky Kerry man who has become the 22nd EuroMillion Plus top prize winner in Ireland in 2018 also stated that he was less than surprised that his lucky numbers came up due to his strong belief that he would one day win a big lottery prize:

“I’ve been planning this day for years because I just always knew I would win big one day, it’s difficult to explain. The half a million won’t completely change my life but it gives me incredible freedom to make changes and to help those which are closest to me. I won’t be rushing into a spending splurge just yet but I am planning to buy a new house so it will be an incredible feeling knowing that I will be mortgage free for the rest of my life,” he said.

Meanwhile, EuroMillions Mega Draw on Friday will guarantee a jackpot of an incredible €130 million.

THERE were celebrations in the Ballymac Bar last night when the Creagh family enjoyed a windfall from the Winning Streak programme.

Eugie Creagh’s name was called out last week on the show, but it was his son John who was representing him on the TV programme last night.

Eugie was there, of course, with his entourage which included John’s wife Linda their kids Paddy and John and cousin Oran among others, who all helped Eugie pick the numbers for John for the first part of the game on the show.

John told presenter, Sinead Kennedy, how his dad opened the Ballymac Bar back in 1956 and how he and his brother Patrick are now running the pub since Eugie retired three years ago.

In the end, John won €8,000 in cash and a holiday to Thailand worth €10,000 for his dad, so not a bad trip up to Dublin for the Creagh family.
