THE INEC may have rescued the weekend for some music festival goers to Killarney this weekend.

The events centre has agreed to host a number of the Irish acts, previously lined up to play The Killarney Festival of Food and Music and proceeds will also go to two great causes – the Oncology Unit in Tralee General Hospital and Cuan Counselling.

Walking on Cars, Mick Flannery, Little Hours and guests will perform on Saturday night at the INEC, with proceeds all going to charity.

While on Sunday, Damien Dempsey, Mundy and guests, will also perform. A ticket for each night will now cost €20 including booking fee.

Comedy will also be catered for at the INEC Acoustic Club who will host Aprés Match, Colm O’Regan and guests on Saturday night and Jason Byrne and Guests on Sunday night. Tickets €15 per night.

Dingle rockers, Walking on Cars have issued a statement saying; “We’re very disappointed to hear that Killarney Festival isn’t going ahead. We’ve never cancelled a show before and we don’t intend on starting now. We’re putting on a show in the INEC on Saturday night.”

“The artists we have spoken to want to play Killarney and they are happy to donate the proceeds to charity, we feel that it is in the best interest of everyone to help make this happen,” said Patrick O’Donoghue, Managing Director of The Gleneagle Hotel and INEC.

Fair play to both the INEC and the artists.
