CANCER support charity, Recovery Haven Kerry, was a hive of activity on Friday morning as over 40 members of Network Ireland Kerry visited the Tralee premises for a special coffee morning and centre tour.

The event was a joint initiative between Network Ireland Kerry and their charity partner for 2024, and was also attended by a number of special guests, including Minister Norma Foley, Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Mikey Sheehy, along with local gardaí, Mary Gardiner and Aidan O’Mahony.

Welcoming guests to the event, Network Ireland Kerry President, Linda O’Mahony-Logan, spoke of her delighted at having chosen to collaborate with Recovery Haven Kerry during her term, describing the morning as ‘really special’.

“When we launched 14 months ago, every president gets to choose a charity partner, and for me choosing Recovery Haven was a no-brainer. It was so easy because at Network Ireland Kerry we’re all about support and creating a community of support for businesswomen -be they employers, employees or entrepreneurs. We are all about making connections and about having a safe place to go, and we know that those same values are very strong here at Recovery Haven too.”

She also paid tribute to the charity’s volunteers who give so much to Recovery Haven daily, and who were instrumental in creating such a beautiful setting for Friday’s event.

Recovery Haven’s Client Services Co-ordinator, Siobhan MacSweeney, also spoke about the importance of working with Network Ireland Kerry, and encouraged those in the room to help spread the word about what the charity is all about and let their friends, families and communities know the free cancer support services that are available.

Several guests enjoyed some time in the charity’s stunning garden before touring the newly refurbished building with staff and volunteers.

Friday’s event was one of a number of collaborations between Network Ireland Kerry and Recovery Haven in 2024, which will culminate in a Christmas Lunch in Killarney in December. Scroll down for photos…

This was supported by Anita Michalak of Digital Talk, who shared how attendees could optimise their social media footprint, from Facebook, to Instagram to their LinkedIn profiles.

A feature of each of the Network Ireland Kerry events is a minute on the microphone, whereby members have an opportunity to introduce themselves and the business they are representing.

Next up, was Kerry Mc Carthy Brady, Hercules Building Systems who have a patented rapid-build, rapid-finish building system.

Closing the event Brigeen O’Sullivan and Emily Reen thanked everyone for their enthusiastic participation on the evening and noted that their membership is growing at an ongoing basis.

They spoke about their upcoming business awards which will be held in May and will be open to members to submit an entry under a number of categories.

These business awards are part of a national award program with Network Ireland, that support and profiles entrants each year.

THE first ever Network Ireland Kerry Christmas party was a stylish affair at The Rose Hotel on Thursday evening with over 50 guests in attendance.

The evening began with a drinks reception at 6.45pm by Valentia Island Vermont accompanied by live music from local singer / songwriter Tanya O’Sullivan.

This was followed by a four course menu carefully created by hotel’s Executive Head Chef Odran Lucey.  Special guest speaker on the evening was Elvira Fernandez Zebo mother, model, businesswoman, entrepreneur and wife of Munster Rugby Star Simon Zebo.

There was a charity aspect to the occasion with a raffle on the night in aid of Recovery Haven. A great night then organised by the growing Network group which was just launched in June of this year. Scroll down for photos…

“Since the pandemic many of us have normalised working alone or working remotely and for many of us the value of meeting face to face and making connections needs to be regenerated. We believe that Network Ireland Kerry will bring back that opportunity to all with our monthly hosted events, giving people a chance to meet face to face again, develop their professional network and grow their connections both in the county and nationally across 17 other branches within Network Irelands network.”
