Anthony Garvey is one of three people giving an 8-week Presentation and Public Speaking Course in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee next month.

THREE award-winning speakers and presenters, Anthony Garvey, Sean Lyons and Justin McCarthy,  will deliver an 8-week Presentation and Public Speaking Course in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee next  month.

The course will run from 10.00am to 12.00pm every Saturday morning beginning on October 3.

“Many people get nervous presenting in front of an audience and on this course you will learn how to improve your presentation skills in a safe and encouraging environment,” said course tutor Anthony Garvey.

“Presenting confidently is important in many areas for example, at work, in college and for job interviews.”

The eight-week course covers a wide range of topics including managing nerves and stage fright, using humour effectively, structuring a speech, presenting with flair, thinking on your feet and connecting with an audience.

“Effective communication skills are important in all walks of life,” said Sean Lyons, one of the course tutors. “Each week we will listen to some of the world’s best speakers and learn how to structure, develop and deliver interesting presentations and speeches.”

The course costs €495 and is strictly limited to 12 people.

“We will also be looking at how to avoid death by powerpoint,” said Justin McCarthy, one of the course tutors. “And we will be revealing how you can make the best use of emerging technologies from webinars and Skype, to haiku and prezie.”

PR Consultant, Anthony Garvey, is involved in two courses in The Meadowlands Hotel starting this week.

THERE are two courses starting up soon for anyone who is interested in improving their public speaking skills and wants to learn how the media works.

An eight-week public speaking and presentation course will be held at The Meadowlands Hotel starting this Saturday, October 4, 10am – midday

Aimed at anyone who wants to improve their presenting skills, this course is taught by three award-winning speakers: Chairman of Writers’ Week, Sean Lyons; Toastmaster and teacher, Justin McCarthy and Public Relations Consultant, Anthony Garvey.

The course covers a wide range of topics including structuring a presentation, delivering sales pitches that get results, using new technology effectively, presenting with flair, thinking on your feet, connecting with your audience and much, much more.

By the end of this eight-week course, the organisers say participants will be more confident in their presenting skills.

It will run in the Meadowlands Hotel from 10am to midday every Saturday morning beginning on October 4 and finishing on November 29, with a break for mid-term. Cost: €495

A ten-week Public Relations & Marketing course, will also be held at the same venue starting this Thursday night, October 2, from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.

Aimed at anyone who wants to understand the importance of marketing to their business or is interested in how the media works, this course is certified by the Irish Academy of Public Relations.

Topics include:

• Understanding digital media and online PR

• Creating photography that works

• How to write a press release that gets coverage

• Putting together a winning newsletter or ezine

• Securing sponsorship for your organisation

• Getting the best from exhibitions and conferences

• Delivering PR for Charities and Voluntary Organisations

The course also covers journalism, event management, crisis PR and much much more!

Cost is €350 and includes exam fee and registration with Irish Academy of Public Relations.

This is the fourth year the popular course has run in Kerry and is delivered by PR consultant Anthony Garvey, along with a number of guest lecturers for certain topics.
