IT was Ladies Day yesterday at Killarney Races and despite a local woman picking up the top prize, Tralee girls went all out in the style stakes.
Denise Healy from Killarney was judged the winner by broadcaster Kathryn Thomas and Rose of Tralee Haley O’Sullivan.
Denise, who is engaged to Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, won an all-expenses paid five day trip for two to Paris.
“I am delighted, it is a real honour and an all-time dream to win. I come every year, my inspiration for my style comes from my late Mum and my sister,” said Denise.
There was more luck for Killarney when when the runner-up in the Queen of Fashion contest went to Christine Hegarty, while the winner of the most stylish hat was Ellen O’Donnell from Cashel, Co Tipperary who will enjoy a five-day luxury trip for two to Milan.
The runner-up in the most stylish hat contest was Marguerite Brosnan from Killarney.
So, no Tralee winners then but the ladies enjoyed amazing day of racing with the sun shining, the grandstands and hospitality suites full, and aprés-race parties aplenty in the hotels around the famed tourist town.
