Tralee Organisations To Benefit From Government Funding

Meals on Wheels Tralee will receive €3,498 of funding.

MEALS on Wheels Tralee and Rahoonane Community Centre are among the Kerry organisations to benefit from funding announced by the Government.

The Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley has welcomed the funding of €71,293 for nine Kerry projects under third tranche of Covid-19 stability fund allocations.

The funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund is designed to support community and voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises that are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kerry organisations who were successful under the latest tranche are;

• Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith Triuigh Teoranta – €34,270
• Camp Community Hill Ltd – €9,756
• Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland – €7,226
• Banna Rescue – €6,936
• Meals on Wheels Tralee – €3,498
• Rahoonane Community Centre Limited – €3,003
• Ballybunion Youth Café – €2,409
• Causeway Community Action Group – €2,195
• Lauragh Community Centre – €2,000

“These organisations provide services in a diverse range of areas including disability services, health and wellbeing services, community supports, active retirement and elder care services as well as a range of social services and supports for disadvantaged individuals and communities,” said Minister Foley.

Today’s announcement is on top of the two previous tranches of the funding announced in June and July 2020 that benefitted many other organisations across Kerry.

A RAHOONANE resident is the latest winner of Tralee Credit Union’s Members Car Draw.

A delighted and overwhelmed Martin O’Connor had great support from family and friends when he  picked up his brand new Citroen 4 this week at the Ashe Street branch.

For those of us not lucky enough to win a car, Tralee Credit Union have just re-introduced its low rate motor loan for July and August.

“We are definitely seeing a return in confidence to members borrowing for motor loans. These loans are up 29% on this time last year,” said Fintan Ryan, Tralee Credit Union’s CEO.

“It’s testimony of the bargains currently available from the dealers on new and second hand vehicles, increasing confidence to borrow and purchase and of course to members seeing the benefits of borrowing with us,” he said.
